QEW Improvements

From Evans Avenue to Cawthra Road

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has been undertaking a Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study to examine the rehabilitation and improvement needs for the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) from Evans Avenue to Cawthra Road.  A Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) was prepared to document the study, including the key features of the Recommended Plan, and was made available for a 30 day public review period which ended February 16, 2016.  The Preliminary Design phase of this study is nearing completion.

In light of the many benefits associated with the proposed QEW improvements, including the reconfiguration of the Dixie Road Interchange, MTO is moving forward with the detail design phase of the project and field investigations, except in relation to stormwater management ponds (SWMP). Detail design and investigation work on stormwater management ponds (SWMP) has been deferred at this time until additional preliminary design work on feasible SWMP locations is completed and ready to be communicated to the public.
